In-School Program

CHP In School

The integrated model of the CHP was developed in collaboration with teachers, parents, doctors and researchers. It has 3 components: a set of psychosocial interventions implemented during the regular school day by school personnel, a medication protocol implemented by local participating pediatricians and a web-based system for care coordination that all those providing care can access to keep track of interventions the student is receiving and monitor the students’ progress. Students who participate in this research program come to our center for lab visits during which we conduct extensive assessments that include measures of academic and social impairment, family characteristics, experiences with and attitudes about smoking and other substances. We also ask parents about their child’s developmental history, sleeping CHP In Schooland eating habits, and a number of questions about their own life experiences. This program has yielded several research projects that provide important information about students with ADHD. In addition, research regarding the use of community development teams to create practical research-based treatment programs, assessing and insuring treatment fidelity, evaluating the use of a medication protocol, and the effectiveness of the CHP interventions have all arisen from and continue to be an important part of this integrated program.
