PHOTO: Volleyball gameJumpStart is a one week summer day camp that operates from 8:30am - 4:30pm Monday through Friday designed to help sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students with ADHD build social and academic success. Counselors work closely with each camper to develop a "toolbox" of skills for the new school year. PHOTO: Playing a gameMany daily activities focus on developing organizational skills and study skills to improve academic achievement. Each camper receives a binder with school supplies to practice maintaining an organizational system during the program. Campers are taught efficient and effective study skills which include instruction on strategic project planning, study skills, and note taking techniques. PHOTO: At the poolCampers also participate in small groups aimed at strengthening interpersonal skills. Using moderated discussions and interactive games students learn to use new strategies for managing peer conflict and initiating friendships. Our Art Works program also provides opportunities for campers to build confidence and communication skills while exploring creativity. Campers cultivate good sportsmanship and basic athletic ability by playing team sports during pool and field activities while reinforcing interpersonal skills. The program maintains a well-trained staff and an exceptionally low camper to counselor ratio.
