What’s new in 2008?
The ALDC and the Region 5 T/TAC would like to start off by thanking everyone who attended Raising the Bar last spring, 2007. We greatly appreciated all of your feedback and we incorporated many of your ideas into our conference on March 20, 2008. We feel this will be the best Raising the Bar conference yet.
- We organized our workshops using the method of tracking. This tool is used to guide the attendees to the workshops that will be of greatest interest and use to them. The conference will feature three tracks for workshops participants: Family, Education, and Health. Each track is designed to provide comprehensive information on a variety of topics that address the needs of a specific audience.
- There are more workshops than ever before because we have added many new topics based on your suggestions! New workshops will provide information concerning youth with ADHD and their transition to high school and college. Other workshops which will feature take away strategies that can be utilized in elementary and secondary schools. In addition, we will be offering small group sessions where the audience is encouraged to speak with experts in the field of ADHD about specific questions.
- This year, our workshops will provide applications for the skills and research discussed. Teachers, parents, and health professionals will be able to apply these new approaches and techniques when interacting with youth with ADHD.
- CEU credit and Certificates of Attendance will be purchased in advance through registration. After the conference, attendees will have an opportunity to pick them up in the time allotted before the shuttles arrive.
- Each participant will receive a handout when checking in at the registration table. For your convenience, this will include the schedule for the conference and other pertinent information. Signs will also be placed around the conference to ease the transition between workshops.
